MXroute Host Configuration
Setup guideStep 05 — sender mailboxes
01

Find your server hostname

MXroute assigns every account to a named server. Log in to your MXroute client area or DirectAdmin — the hostname appears in the welcome email and at the top of DirectAdmin (e.g. tallulah.mxrouting.net). It is not mail.yourdomain.com unless you created that CNAME yourself.

02

Create the mailbox in DirectAdmin

DirectAdmin → E-Mail Manager → E-Mail Accounts → Create Account. Use a real human name (not info@ or sales@), set a long random password, and leave the quota generous. Create one mailbox per sender identity — never share one mailbox between senders.

Then open E-Mail Manager → DKIM and make sure DKIM is enabled for the domain; publish the record it shows using the DNS wizard.

03

Connection settings for Next Day Mail

PresetMXroute
SMTP hosttallulah.mxrouting.net
SMTP port465 (implicit SSL/TLS)
IMAP hosttallulah.mxrouting.net
IMAP port993 (SSL/TLS)
Usernamefull@email.address

In Accounts, choose the MXroute preset, paste the hostname above and the mailbox credentials. Next Day Mail tests SMTP and IMAP immediately on save. If port 465 is blocked on your server, 587 with STARTTLS also works.

04

Route mailbox traffic through its own proxy

MXroute is shared hosting — the outbound IP is not yours, so the IP your console connects from still matters for account safety. Set the site-wide 711Proxy config, or give this mailbox a per-mailbox override in Settings so its sticky exit IP never changes.

Limits and first-run check

MXroute enforces an account-wide daily send quota (typically 200–1000/day depending on plan) shared across every mailbox on the account. Keep Next Day Mail's ramp untouched: it starts each mailbox at a handful of sends and grows over ~3–4 weeks, so it stays under the quota naturally. If you run many senders on one MXroute account, lower each mailbox's daily limit so the sum stays under your plan's quota.

Finally, run Run doctor on the mailbox in Accounts — it checks proxy, SMTP, IMAP, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, PTR/TLS/HELO and sends a live message to a pool account to read back placement.
